New committee elected

The NMM Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday 28 May and the following committee positions were elected:
Chair: Bob Humpage
Secretary: Hayley Humpage
Treasurer: Paul Gyngell
Publicity Officer: Vacant; no nominees
Open Seat: Paul Goldfarb

Paul Goldfarb wins our 2008 competition

The George Robbins Trophy 2008 was judged on the theme of 'best paint job' and top honours went to Paul with his 1:35 WW2 diorama. Second place went to Cris Simmons for his Slave 1 Star Wars kit, with Clive Peacock in third for his 1:24 Mercedes 1628H.

Figure Painting demonstration by Cris Simmons

A fantastic demonstration was provided by Cris on figure painting - from initial shading and highlighting to final coat, including paint tips - we'll all be rushing out to Games Workshop to get their Citadel wash for the final flesh coats now..!

Also online is a report from the East of England Peterborough model show which took place last month.

A short meeting this week, but some interesting models including Revell German U-Boat U-47, Hasegawa Karl with Munitionspanzer IV, Revell Werner figures, Matchbox AMT Budweiser Peterbilt 352 Pacemaker Cabover, Monogram Seaquest DSV Deep Ocean Transport, AMT Star Wars Slave 1 and AMT 'The Christie' American Steam Fire Engine.

Club members also signed up for shows we'll be visiting and exhibiting at over the spring and summer .

The Club layout as it used to be, before Clive's improvements

NMM Railway Layout

Many thanks to Clive who gave us an update on progress with the NMM layout. It's now barely recognisable with substantially remodelled landscape and buildings.

Clive has now passed the baton on to Paul Gyngell to work on the electrics. We'll have a further update in the summer.

If it's not military, autos, planes or railways, you can bet one of our latest projects is movie-related.

Film Night

Film-related models were in abundance at our first meeting of the New Year. There were some real vintage classics, as you can see from the pictures on the left!

Of note were models of Titanic, James Bond, The Green Hornet, The Mummy, Star Wars and Wallace and Gromit. Thanks to all who brought their kits along.
