Club Nights

Club Nights take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, starting at 7.00pm - we have now changed the time on a Build night to 6:30 pm to give more time to those who want to build.

The 2nd Wednesday is usually an event, talk or demonstration session.

The 4th Wednesday is a meeting followed by an opportunity to meet socially with other members as well as pick up new skills and techniques. All of our meetings are very informal and friendly, with plenty of good humour.

Club Diary 2017

We now meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays every month from 7.00-9.30pm at Windmill Primary School, Windmill Lane, Raunds.
All ages and skill levels welcomed.

We ask members to bring along a model to every club night, whether it is a current, a finished or a future project. This is to show any prospective members what we do as a club.

The Members Memorial Shield

( George Robins Trophy )

For the past few years the club members have been competing for the George Robins trophy, a different theme being chosen by the committee each year. Some of our newer members have asked who is or was George Robins?

This feature is intended to answer that question.

George was one of our members who had a big interest in model railways with a large collection of Locomotives and a mass of rolling stock. I do not think any of our members actually seen his collection although I could be wrong. George had been building his layout for some time when he joined the club. He was a meticulous collector and every piece of rolling stock he purchased for his layout was listed in a note book listing the item name, the place purchased, the price and its intended use on his layout. I my self had seen at least four of these notebooks full of listings, other members stating that he had more than twelve full. He himself stated that he had kept these so as to keep track of his collection and had more than fifteen books full. Whichever the full total, it in any description was an extensive collection with over one hundred locos.

Unfortunately George would not see his layout complete as one day he passed away at his kitchen table whilst preparing his tea.

After 10 years it has been decided by the club to change the name of the competition in rememberance of those who pass whilst a member of the club.

Our members' expertise covers the following,

Kits: Plastic, Metal, Vinyl
Scratch builds
Science Fiction
Radio Control Aircraft
Radio Control Boats
Model Engineering
All types of Vehicles
Model Railways
Dolls Houses
Fairground Models
